Design Services Manager

Job Summary:

The Design Services Manager will lead a team of Designers, CAD Technicians and Estimators to produce designs that maximize value for our customers while meeting internal operational productivity targets. This will be accomplished through collaboration with our Customers, Channel Partners, Sales Teams, Customer Success and Engineering groups to deliver timely renderings, 3D layouts, and detailed manufacturing drawings supported by accurate quotations.

In addition, the Design Services Manager will hold responsibility for educating our sales channel and customers on Duke standards of manufacturing as well as conducting market research and external benchmarking to guide the development of future product and design standards. Finally, the role will constantly strive to improve the customer experience and end deliverables in pursuit of sustainable, profitable revenue growth.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Build congruence between market needs/ "requirements" and Duke operational capabilities
  • Ensure our product and service offering is relevant, competitive, and packaged properly
  • Ensure our design and quote deliverables are on target to win profitability
  • Apply knowledge of design, modeling and drawing practices and guide your team to solve design challenges in collaboration with the Engineering team
  • Ensure the design meets quality standards, cost budgets and schedule deadlines
  • Efficiently package customer design for production readiness
  • Develop, implement, and evolve CAD standards and procedures
  • Oversee CAD quality assurance tools and processes
  • Create and enforce CAD standards required for estimating and best practices
  • Develop and collect metrics to support continuous improvement efforts
  • Prioritize and manage workload
  • Participates as needed in review/design process to evaluate client needs and determine scope of services required
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels that fluctuate with dynamic workloads
  • Day to day management of the team including performance against agreed objectives and prioritization of workload

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, Associate's Degree in Drafting - minimum
  • Supervisory experience and/or a minimum of 2 years' experience in leadership with proven teambuilding capabilities
  • Expert level skills using 3D CAD, specifically AutoCAD
  • Experience with preparing and proposing bids/estimates
  • Create, improve and sustain CAD systems, standards and processes
  • Foodservice knowledge and experience - not essential
  • St Louis Metro Area
