Production Supervisor
Job Summary:
Duke Supervisors provides guidance and support to team members for the purpose of achieving department goals. They accomplish results by communicating job expectations; including on the job training, monitoring work, and assessing job performance. Supervisors lead team members by coaching, counselling and supporting systems, policies and procedures.
In addition to this, the Duke Supervisor assists in identifying personal and professional development needs and opportunities for team members. They promote ongoing training, preparing team members for more advanced responsibilities. The Duke Supervisor must develop team members and their team to ensure "Permission to Play" values, uphold Duke "Core" values and strive for Duke's "Aspirational" values.
Job Responsibilities:
The Duke Supervisor is responsible for creating a team environment; focusing on the development of team members and fostering teamwork to accomplish goals.
- Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and team work.
- Support safety as a top priority by maintaining a safe and clean work environment; training and educating of team members on the use of all operations, equipment and resources, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Provide training and support team members in their development of personal and/or professional growth opportunities
- Lead RIE Events focused on break-through improvements and execute Management for Daily Improvement (MDI) to sustain the continuous improvement culture and ensure participation from the Team
- Complete the appropriate analysis to understand staffing requirements and takt time to satisfy customer demand.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPI's), utilize visual management and manage the associated improvement activities to accomplish department goals
- Create, maintain and change Standard Work to closely align production output to varying levels of customer demand and promote production cell flexibility
- Maintain quality services by establishing and supporting organizational standards.
- Ensure operation of equipment and tooling; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Build good relationships with internal and external customers; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain, Customer Service and Sales Departments to implement and execute cell-level Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP)
- Maintain staffing by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Keep employees informed on employee responsibility including conduct and discipline.
- Correct employees constructively; coaching and/or counseling as appropriate.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; reading/ researching

Job Skills and Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor degree preferred
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience
- 5 years of operations support experience in a manufacturing environment (must include some Lean experience)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience using an ERP System (Oracle, SAP, Epicor)
