CAD INTERN

Job Summary:

Duke Manufacturing has a great opportunity for students in the Computer Aided Design/Drafting field. Our CAD internship gives a student the opportunity to work in a department devoted to 3D drafting of custom built equipment. Students will get the opportunity to assist our drafters on projects and improve their drafting talents and experience while earning a competitive wage. Hours are flexible and we can work with you to accommodate your current class schedule.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assists CAD personnel in designing and drawing equipment using AutoCAD in a 3D environment
  2. Assists in updating CAD standards manual
  3. Drafts preliminary drawings generated from a brief description of the product
  4. Assists in revising preliminary drawings as specified by customer to submittal drawings
  5. Assists in transfers of submittal drawings into final shop drawings
  6. Provides drawings and renderings of equipment for use in trade shows, guided tours, and literature

Job Qualifications:

  1. Experience: Must be entering or completing final year of studies in a CAD or Engineering Program
  2. Education: Must be pursuing a CAD/drafting degree/certificate with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  3. Must be familiar with AutoCAD Software; SolidWorks and Revit are a plus

  8. Speech Recognition ' The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person
  9. Near Vision ' The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  10. Written Expression ' The ability to communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand

Workplace Environmental Conditions:

Typical office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
