Engineering Flex Tech Program

Are you interested in learning more about our drafting/ design program at Duke? The Sedalia Engineering team is has a program to utilize flexible resources within Duke to add capacity during their peak season. This program will offer internal team members basic Engineer tech training and in turn they will be flexed/loaned to the Engineering department over the course of a year as needed.

Who should apply?

• This would be an excellent opportunity for someone utilizing Tuition reimbursement, currently enrolled in a draft/design program, to get some hands on experience.
• At minimum, this is a great experience for someone with strong computer skills, interested in learning more about the tech role and looking to gain some experience to help propel them in a drafting & designing career.
• You MUST have approval/recommendation from your Supervisor/Manager to apply.

What can I expect?

• Initially you can expect 6-8 months in the department to ensure solid training, from there you may be flexed into the Engineering department for 1-2 month assignments or as needed during periods of overload.
• This a temp assignment and does not guarantee anyone a full-time position in the Engineering department however it is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow and may help give you the experience you need as positions open in the future.
• You will be responsible for good attendance habits, high professionalism and performance of basic Engineering tech assignments, not full tech duties.
• Because you will be brought in during peak periods, overtime should be expected.

What is the pay?

• As you will not be performing the full duties of the tech, there will be no change in pay.
• This affords you the opportunity to grow your skill sets and gain experience in a new role.
