Job Summary:

Performs hand-welding operations in all positions on a diversified line of standard and special products in accordance with welding requirements, dimensional and alignment specifications, requiring knowledge of welding methods and techniques.

 

 

Job Responsibility: Welder

The following list of essential duties is not exhaustive. An employee may be required to perform additional tasks not listed below.

 

Welder: Responsible for fitting and welding of steel and stainless steel parts using a MIG and/or TIG process.

  •           Position fabricated components in fit up jigs and fixtures or positions and clamp components preparatory to welding.
  •          May measure and mark location of weld on metal components following shop drawing.
  •          Tack welds parts in preparation for final welding.  
  •          Select wire speed or filler rod according to type and thickness of metal and knowledge of MIG and TIG welding techniques.  
  •          Hand guide electrode and filler rod along horizontal or vertical weld line at specified speed and angle to melt and deposit metal from feeder rod onto work piece, ensuring proper penetration of weld.
  •          Visually inspect product for defects and weld burns.  
  •          Record quality defects on quality control report and turn in to lead person.
  •          Inform lead person of inappropriate stock levels.
  •          Clean, oil and grease equipment as necessary.
  •          Notify lead person or supervisor of equipment needing repair.

Follows General Safety Rules- ensuring work is done safely and meets quality standards

 

Must 6S department workstations

 

Actively support problem solving events

 

Search for and suggest ways to reduce or eliminate waste

 

Update and/or engage in the KPI board conversations

 

Read and interpret blue prints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements

 

Use a variety of hand & power tools

 

Inspect metal and/or parts for defects

 

Follow standard operating procedures and quality plan

 

Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task

 

Cross train and be flexible to cover daily needs

 

Understand complicated drawings

 

 

Essential Knowledge and Skills Requirements

MIG and TIG welding experience required, technical schooling or related Associates Degree a plus

Experience with steel and/or stainless steel required

Ability to identify and measure material

Able to manage immediate work area with little to no Supervision

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses

 

Physical Job Requirements:

  8. Grasping (applying pressure to objects).
  9. Reaching (extending hands and arms in any direction).
  10. Stooping and crouching (bending downward and forward).
  11. Feeling (perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture).

Mental and Visual Job Requirements:

  1. Visual ability required includes close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  2. Ability to identify and distinguish colors may be required- Assemblers or Operators will need to be able to identify different color wires or use controls on machines.
  3. Ability to judge distance and space relationships.
  4. Ability to learn and comprehend instructions and orientation to the job
  5. Ability to concentrate attention on task at hand for extended periods of time.
