IT Support Technician Intern

Location: On‑site - Manufacturing Facility, Sedalia, MO

Reports To: IT Support Lead / Systems Administrator
Employment Type: Internship (Part‑Time or Full‑Time)

Position Summary

The IT Support Technician Intern will assist the IT team in providing day‑to‑day technical support within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on supporting end users, assisting senior technicians, and maintaining hardware, software, and peripheral equipment used across production, engineering, and administrative departments. The intern will gain hands‑on experience supporting enterprise systems, industrial equipment, and business‑critical applications.

Key Responsibilities

1. End User Support

• Provide first‑level technical support to end users via walk‑up, phone, email, and ticketing system
• Assist users with software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
• Support Microsoft Office 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.)
• Troubleshoot application issues related to SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Epicor ERP

2. Hardware & Peripheral Support

• Assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining:
• Desktop and laptop computers
• Monitors, keyboards, mice, and other peripherals
• Industrial label printers and barcode scanners
• Troubleshoot basic hardware issues and escalate when necessary
• Assist with imaging, deployment, and replacement of workstations
• Help maintain inventory of IT equipment and spare parts

3. Manufacturing & Shop Floor Support

• Support IT equipment used in production and warehouse areas
• Assist with troubleshooting printer connectivity and label printing issues
• Ensure proper operation of computers and peripherals supporting manufacturing processes
• Work with technicians to minimize downtime on the shop floor

4. Systems & Process Support

• Assist senior technicians with:
• Routine system maintenance tasks
• User account setup and access requests
• Documentation of procedures and common issues
• Follow IT policies, security standards, and safety requirements
• Participate in continuous improvement of IT support processes

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in:
• Information Technology
• Computer Science
• Engineering Technology
• Or a related field
• Basic understanding of:
• Windows operating systems
• Computer hardware and peripherals
• Networking fundamentals
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Willingness to learn and follow technical procedures
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 administration or support
• Exposure to CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
• Basic understanding of ERP systems (Epicor experience is a plus)
• Experience with ticketing systems or IT service management tools
• Prior internship, lab, or help desk experience

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Ability to lift and move IT equipment (up to 40 lbs)
• Comfortable working on the manufacturing floor as needed
• Ability to stand, walk, and move between offices and production areas
