Inventory Control Systems Coordinator

Job Summary:

Responsible for continuously improving the accuracy of Duke's perpetual inventory and kanban control systems. Develops, documents, and trains those responsible for the care and counting of inventory. Schedules, performs and reconciles counts in cooperation with supervisors and their teams. Leads root cause analysis and corrective action development in cooperation with supervisors and their teams.


Essential Functions:

  • Primary duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Document best practices in inventory control, counting, and reconciliation.
  • Develop, execute, and continuously improve training of those responsible for the storage, use, and counting of inventory.
  • Compiles data from ERP database to define and maintain part count classifications (eg: ABC codes) and schedules.
  • Work with supervisors, their teams, and other stakeholders to Cycle count materials (e.g. raw materials, packaging materials, finished goods, and non-conforming materials) on a daily basis to achieve required number of counts in a timely manner.
  • Work with supervisors, their teams, and other stakeholders to audit kanban-controlled items on a daily basis to achieve required number of audits in a timely manner.
  • Ensure materials and Kanban cards are in proper locations. Conduct searches in order to locate misclassified or misplaced inventory/cards.
  • Reconcile discrepancies of over/under amounts and any damaged products in coordination with the materials team.
  • Publish/report out inventory count & Kanban system metrics, as required.
  • Perform and lead others in root-cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and recommend process improvements to eliminate them.
  • Must ensure safety rules are observed and assist in maintaining clean and orderly stocking

Job Qualifications & Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Two years+ of factory related experience.
  • Two years+ experience with inventory management and cycle counting.
  • Good math skills
  • Knowledge of Safety rules and procedures
  • Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to use computer, specifically Microsoft Office Programs, ERP system and communicating effectively via email and phone.
  • Proven time management skills with the ability to respond to time-critical issues and work overtime as need to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent work ethic; the ability to work self-directed and as a flexible team player.

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Standing or moving for continuous periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
  • Lifting (raising or lowering objects up to 40lb).
  • Pulling and/or pushing (exerting up to 15 pounds)
  • Carrying objects (in arms or on shoulders):
  • Reaching (extending hands and arms in any direction)
  • Stooping and crouching (bending downward and forward)
  • Feeling (perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture):
  • Speaking to employees and customers.
  • Listening to employees and customers.
  • Grasping (applying pressure to objects):

Mental and Visual Job Requirements:

  • Visual ability required includes close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors may be required- Assemblers or Operators will need to be able to identify different color wires or use controls on machines.
  • Ability to judge distance and space relationships.
  • Ability to learn and comprehend instructions and orientation to the job
  • Ability to concentrate attention on task at hand for extended periods of time.
