Job Summary:

The Lead position assists the Supervisor with ensuring department goals are met by leading and coordinating the activities of team members within the department. They collaborate with the Supervisor to see that all team members properly trained, receive regular job performance feedback and are safety conscience at all times. Lead team members coach and supporting systems, policies and procedures.

 

Lead team members contribute to Duke's work environment and culture of "Your Solutions Partner", developing team members to ensure "Permission to Play" values, uphold Duke "Core" values and strive for Duke's "Aspirational" values.

 

Job Responsibilities:

The Lead is responsible for creating a team environment; focusing on the development of team members and fostering teamwork to accomplish goals.

 

  • Create an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and team work.
  • Support safety as a top priority by maintaining a safe and clean work environment; training and educating of team members on the use of all operations, equipment and resources, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct monthly and daily safety inspections.
  • Ensure team members are properly trained in the job
  • Maintain quality; Inspecting work in process and finished goods to verify conformance to standards and quality of work.
  • Maintain delivery; Informing Master Scheduler of inappropriate stock levels or inventory errors.
  • Maintain Quantity/ Efficiencies; ensure jobs are running necessary to meet proper takt times.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to improve efficiency of team members.
  • Monitor preventive maintenance on all equipment, notifying maintenance if repair is needed.
  • Verify daily performance standards are met; updating KPI boards, completing required reports, etc.
  • Adjust manpower needs to meet production requirements.
  • Communicate with Supervisor and assist in decision making and completion of company goals and objectives.
  • Perform duties of team members within the department, as required, having knowledgeable of all processes, tools and equipment utilized by team members.

Job Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Associate degree and/or a technical certification preferred (Certain technical skills may be required based on department)
  2. Strong Communication Skills (verbal and written-) Ability to give effective feedback and coaching to team members, lead team meetings and department report outs, email
  3. Basic Problem solving and Root Cause Analysis
  4. Critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills
  5. Able to use Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  6. Experience using an ERP System (Oracle, SAP, Epicor)
  7.  

Physical Requirements:

  1. Sitting for extended periods of time.
  2. Standing for continuous periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
  3. Lifting (raising or lowering objects up to 40lb).
  4. Pulling and/or pushing (exerting up to 15 pounds)
  5. Carrying objects (in arms or on shoulders):
  6. Reaching (extending hands and arms in any direction)
  7. Stooping and crouching (bending downward and forward)
  8. Feeling (perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture):
  9. Speaking to employees and customers.
  10. Listening to employees and customers.
  11. Grasping (applying pressure to objects):

 

Mental and Visual Job Requirements:

  1. Visual ability required includes close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  2. Ability to identify and distinguish colors may be required- Assemblers or Operators will need to be able to identify different color wires or use controls on machines.
  3. Ability to judge distance and space relationships.
  4. Ability to learn and comprehend instructions and orientation to the job
  5. Ability to concentrate attention on task at hand for extended periods of time.

This job operates in a manufacturing environment.
