Quality Technical Specialist

Functional Areas:

Quality Process

  • Drives continuous quality improvement initiatives that improve overall product quality.
  • Serves and leads continual improvement teams.
  • Certified Duke certified Internal Auditor and conducts internal and supplier audits.
  • Leads the development of incoming attribute charts, in-process inspection procedures and final inspection plans.
  • Conducts and facilitates root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for internal quality concerns.
  • Analyzes QI Report.
  • Analyzes and prepares QAB Reports.
  • Works with vendors on SCARs, PPAPs and root cause analysis.
  • Lives and teaches the Duke Values.

External Customer Support

  • Provides excellent customer service / Technical Service support for quality issues.
  • Uses advanced statistical analysis techniques to analyze Duke Customer concerns and warranty information.
  • Serves as an "internal advocate" for customers.
  • Issues Quarantines for non-conforming products
  • Facilitates the root cause analysis, problem solving, and resolution of new product related customer complaints.
  • Submits ECO requests to correct product issues.
  • Analyzes records of product returns to identify specific problems or trends over time.
  • Analyzes failure, provide corrective action to respond to customer complaints.
  • Coordinate with outside lab for analysis of product issues.

Product and Production Support

  • Provide factory support contact for Duke Technical Service Department
  • Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems.
  • Responsibility for quality participation, including test and inspection plans during product development, and design transfer into production.
  • Effectively interacts with operations and engineering teams to support the DDS process
  • Create CTQ instructions for critical process/assembly/packaging operations.
  • Reviews statistical data from the production lines to identify quality problems. Analyze the data and recommends changes to production processes or quality controls to eliminate the problem.

Vendor Relationships

  • Participate in development of supplier quality systems and ensure their ability to deliver new products and components right first time.
  • Performs first article inspection of new component
  • Assist vendors in resolving quality issues in relation to:
  • Conduct vendor audits with accuracy.
  • Follow-up on Audit findings
  • Process validation
  • Problem solving

Technical Specifications

  • Develop of sampling plans.
  • Inspect techniques
  • Completion of PPAP's
  • Identify and communicates early warning of supplier issues.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to help formulate quality standards for their goods and ensure that incoming components and materials will comply with the manufacturer's quality standards, minimizing incoming inspection, and contributes to the quality of the finished product.

Training

  • Provides training to production employees of quality requirements and best practices and promotes a culture of quality.
  • Provides technical training to Quality personnel, as needed.

Department Leadership

  • Administers corporate policies and procedures.
  • Assists in establishing plant / departmental quality objectives and goals.
  • Quality Value Stream Leader

Communication

  • Develops a strong ability to express and present ideas and information clearly, to gather information, and to hear what others are saying and understand what they mean.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Associates degree or equivalent; Two (2) years of related experience.
  2. High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
  3. PPAP experience required.
  4. Epicor experience required.
  5. ISO 9001 Certification or experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Sitting for extended periods of time.
  2. Standing for continuous periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
  3. Lifting (raising or lowering objects).
  4. Pulling and/or pushing (exerting up to 15 pounds on a regular basis so that the object is moved to or away from the employee)
  5. Carrying objects (in arms or on shoulders):

  8. Feeling (perceiving attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, or texture):

Mental and Visual Job Requirements:

  1. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.
  2. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
  3. Ability to bring objects into sharp focus.
  4. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  5. Ability to judge distance and space relationships.
  6. Ability to learn and comprehend instructions and orientation to the job.
  7. Ability to concentrate attention on task at hand for extended periods of time.

Workplace Environmental Conditions:

  1. Typical office environment.
  2. Occasionally subjected outside weather conditions.
  3. Occasionally subject to sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to heard above the ambient noise level.
  4. Exposure to dust and airborne particles.
  5. Exposure to hazardous conditions: proximity to moving mechanical parts and electrical current.
