Job Summary:

As Systems Manager of Information Technology, you will bring together your excellent communication, analytical, project management and decision-making skills; combined with your expertise in information systems, including computer and data processing, telephony and communications systems, Internet and other data transfer systems, data security, and data backup and storage systems to lead the Infrastructure Team at Duke Manufacturing.

Plan, implement, oversee and maintain server and network infrastructures and projects across both Corporate and Manufacturing site locations. You will serve as one of the technical thought leaders as part of a team that is leading Duke's Digital Transformation to reduce friction of information/data flow across the Enterprise.

Provide direction and oversight to those involved in the development, design and optimization of multiple information technology and systems functions in support of business processes and technical information systems platforms, including the hardware/software network, database, and systems engineering functions. Serves as a project lead & technical expert in the area of system administration.

You will also be looked to as a leader to help the organization leverage the power of Microsoft O365 applications for improved file sharing and collaboration as well use Microsoft Azure Web Services to help unite Duke's Global Work Force.

The Systems Manager will report to the General Manager of IT & Software Development and provide the technical, process and strategic leadership over Duke Manufacturing's Infrastructure Team.

Summary of Roles:

Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee Infrastructure Team and help manage networks (including: wireless networks, cloud storage, and other systems of data storage and communication within the organization).

Project Management:

  • Work as project managers, overseeing any IT-based projects. This might include implementing a new computer system, training employees on a new piece of software, or creating a new data storage or recordkeeping system.

IT Support:

  • Providing IT support to employees. This might include troubleshooting any issues that arise, training employees on any new systems or software, and generally providing oversight for IT utilized by the organization.

Microsoft Office 365 Expert:

  • Microsoft creates and manufactures a great deal of the software used by the businesses, must have a strong working knowledge of this software.

Essential Functions:

  1. Manages and provides technical guidance to team members and creates a positive experience for team members as a servant leader.
  2. Ensures that systems, networks, and database management principles and methods are incorporated into strategic IT plans and service expectations are clearly defined, working with the business, vendors, and other IT stakeholders to balance real-world risks with business drivers such as speed, agility, flexibility and performance.
  3. Develops and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations. Provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration.
  4. Design and implement monitoring, configuration management and reporting functions that will make a hands-off environment.
  5. Consults with IT stakeholders and staff to ensure that security and reliability is factored into the evaluation, selection, installation and configuration of the database, network, and systems.
  6. Monitors and ensures compliance with IT policies and strategies developed by the General Manager, as well as provides input to changes to existing policies and procedures to ensure operating efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  7. Designs, coordinates and oversees security testing procedures to verify the security of systems, networks and applications, and manages the remediation of identified risks.
  8. Contributes to design of network architecture, integration and installation.
  9. Administer and support core Microsoft Office 365, Cisco, HP and VMware technologies
  10. Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for PCC to take advantage of new technology.
  11. Interact with customers and staff at the technical level, as required.
  12. Support of the Windows Active Directory environment.
  13. Support and coordinate projects required for maintaining the Virtual Infrastructure Environment.
  14. Support and coordinate projects required for maintaining all telecommunications systems.
  15. Support and coordinate projects required for maintaining MPLS connection to DSDC facility.
  16. Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend maintenance.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor or Master's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline
  2. Five (5) to seven (7) years of IT experience, three (3) years of which is in an IT professional systems role, and at least two (2) years in a lead capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Strong understanding of the business impact of systems, networks, the database, tools, technologies and policies.
  4. Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with business managers, SW Developers, System Analyst and IT operations staff.
  5. Strong technical background in information systems. knowledge and experience with PC hardware and software technology as well as system administration, file interchange, shared network resources, internet access and electronic mail.
  6. Superior analytical skills, plus demonstrated skills to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.
  7. Ability to work under deadline pressure.
  8. Willingness to work extra hours if needed on assignments.
  9. Good written and oral communication skills.
  10. Willingness and ability to travel if needed.
